Program Description:

A panel of IT experts will discuss the current trends and ethical issues surrounding technology and how this impacts today’s workplace. Trending IT issues of cybersecurity, data privacy, working from home, social media@work and many other issues will be discussed.


About the Panelists:

Rick J. Bennett (moderator) joined Matrix Service Company as Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 2014. Prior to Matrix, Rick served ten years as the Chief Information Officer at T.D. Williamson based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His past professional achievements include Information Technology leadership positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Blakely Crop Hail Insurance, National Farmers Organization, Taylor Ball Construction Management and The Principal Financial Group.

Mr. Bennett holds a Masters of Energy Business (MEB) degree from the University of Tulsa, has obtained an Executive Certificate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management, and achieved his Bachelors of Business from Western Illinois University majoring in Management Information Systems and minoring in Computer Science. Early in his career he served in the United States Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician. A father of three, Bennett serves as past-Chairman of the Board for Junior Achievement of Eastern Oklahoma and the Deans Council for Northeastern State University College of Business and Technology.


Jared DeShields is Director of Information Technology at Williams, where he oversees the Office of the CIO, having responsibility for Enterprise Cybersecurity and Risk Management, Enterprise Architecture, the Project Management Office (PMO), Service Management, Financial Management, IT Outsourcing, and IT Communications. Jared is a graduate in Business Administration and MIS (Management Information Systems) from the University of Oklahoma and is certified in Leadership from Harvard University. In 2018, Jared obtained his Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) certification from Carnegie Mellon University.


Early in his career Kent Nabors worked in bank examinations for the FDIC and the Federal Reserve Bank. After a shift to technology, he went on to lead the networking infrastructure team for MidFirst Bank, then built their cyber security practice and later served as the institution’s first CISO. After over 20 years in the banking industry, he now serves as the cyber security leader for Hobby Lobby with over 900 locations and a significant e-commerce presence. Kent is also the co-author of Dissecting the Hack: The F0rb1dd3n Network. When not practicing cyber security, Kent is an occasional speaker on the topic for industry, university, and civic organizations. In what spare time remains, Kent owns a local small business with his wife, is a proud dad and grandpa, and is known to make piles of dust in his woodshop. He received his MBA from the University of Oklahoma and his Bachelors from Southern Nazarene University.


Pedro Serrano has over 35 years of experience managing and installing technical controls in networks around the world, 20 of those in military systems. He is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) a producer and distributer of reliable electricity from Hydro, Coal, Gas, Solar and Wind power plants. Pedro has two postgraduates’ degrees one in Telecommunications Management and the other in Computer Science. Pedro serves as the President of the Information System Security Association (ISSA) chapter in Tulsa, Oklahoma and holds the CISSP certification from ISC2.


Paul Tucker is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer at BOK Financial. In this role Tucker leads the cybersecurity team responsible for the banks efforts to protect information important to the banks operation, while ensuring the overall cyber resiliency and privacy of the bank.

With over 24 years of building and running enterprise security functions, security engineering, security governance and program management, Tucker has had the opportunity to lead many successful teams around security compliance, identity management, incident response, information protection, cloud security and security risk management. Tucker oversees cybersecurity compliance activities from the Department of Treasury, Federal Reserve Board, SEC, SOX, GLBA, GDPR, FFIEC, SOC 2, PCI and ISO 27001.

Prior to joining BOKF, Tucker managed an Information Security and Risk Management program within a Fortune 500 energy company, that handled a wide variety of information security issues including industrial control system security.

Tucker has served as the President of the Tulsa, Oklahoma ISSA, instructed network security classes at Oklahoma State University (OSU), and currently serves on several boards including OSU Institute of Technology, Oklahoma Infragard, Optiv Security and Green Country Habitat for Humanity. He has also contributed on many DHS, TSA, FBI, and Energy/Financial Sector special committees for cybersecurity initiatives.
